The 1960 class was built by Bombardier at Montreal, Canada in 1979 as model MXS627. Bombardier was successor of the MLW-Worthington Group. 12 units were built for CP and all are based at Figueira da Foz. Due to the electrification program and their allocation in the freight pool their duties now lack passenger trains. Due to the completed electrification of the Beira Alta line can the 1960s now be found also on the Douro line and on the Linha do Oeste (KBS 140). Most duties bring them on the rails between Pampilhosa and Figueira da Foz as well as between Figueira da Foz and Lisboa.
