The MSP, famous among steam enthusiasts for employing stone age steamers until the late 80s, bought three ex RENFE DL535S for coal haulage on the meter gauge system. For this duty they were fitted with meter gauge trucks and painted green.
The MSP mainly carries coal from Ponferrada to the power plant at Cubillos de Sil. The line between Cubillos and Villablino lies dormant at the moment. The ng units arrived from Madrid on flatcars and were hauled by road truck to Cubillos where they were put on rails.
