The newest ALCos have Mitsubishi alternators and traction motors. They're employed in heavy mainline service. 8009, 8020, 8038 and 8043 were wrecked. 2 units are with National Rail Corporation, 2 (8015+8039) were leased to BHP as possible replacement of Austrac units and returned since to the Freightcorp. roster but aren't used at the moment. 4 or 5 units can be seen in Liverpool Range banking duties. 8046 was employed with switching at Port Botany on Feb 20th '98.
