22 units were sold to Argentina (Buenos Aires al Pacifico/BAP). 52 units left on RENFE roster as of 1.1.1995. In summer 96 less than 40 DL500S were rostered. The days are counted for this end cab model as well... More retired units for BAP expected.

Actually, (13.12.98), the 321 locs which are working at Barcelona are the
following:
- 321.014. Green/yellow painted.
- 321.021. Grey/yellow painted with cab window reformed.
- 321.079. Green/yellow painted.
these locos are assigned to maintenance trains. Also in Barcelona "Can
Tunis" Depot are stored, in order to be scrapped (all these are
painted in green/yellow):
- 321.039
- 321.060 called "La bomba atómica" (the atomic bomb),
because when this loc. was assigned at Madrid a motor piston flew out like
a rocket.

Joaquin Lopez del Ramo reports (22.12.98):
The "Aceralia" Company has rented
various locomotives from the 2100 series from RENFE, to be used in their
factory in Asturias. These locomotives have been painted with a new
design. The numbers are: 2168, 2135, 2153, 2146 and 2148.
