746 Another view of 746 "Namanukula" waiting at Kurunegala with the southbound "Rajarata Rajini" express, 1999. Apparently the cab front was rebuilt, the two front windows are now of the same size.

In 1996 eight Indian WDM-2 locomotives were imported. These are their details (less one number)

Engine: Alco based V-16 of 2,600 bhp
Transmission: Electric
842 843 844 845 846 847 848
Total: 8
A smaller version of these loco's was delivered to Puttalam Cement Works in 1997. I have no further details of this.

Class M8 no. 845 is hauling a passenger train at Mt. Lavinia on the Southern Coast Line on 12 May 2003.
